Oriental Bay marinaPohutukawa trees Miramar peninsularThe waterfront - reflections in the lagoon

When you're in Wellington you're never far from the hills or the sea. It's a great city to explore - whether you like walking, driving, biking, swimming, looking, eating, drinking or shopping. And contrary to popular belief, it's not always windy - these photos were taking on a day when there wasn't a breath of wind!

Four Corners is one of NZ's leading tourism sites and offers comprehensive informaton on all aspects of Wellington and New Zealand.

Here are some of the things we think you should check out:

  • Wellington's coast line - take a drive all around the south coast, past the airport, right round the Miramar Peninsular, Evans Bay, Oriental Bay and back to town.
  • Downstage or Circa - great playhouses
  • Te Papa - our world class national museum
  • The cable car and the botanic gardens
  • Karori Wildlife Sanctuary
  • Cuba St (of course)
  • A trial flight with the Wellington Aero Club
  • The views from the Mount Victoria lookout and the Brooklyn windmill
  • Lord of the Rings tours
  • Helicopter scenic flight

And check out these other sites for more suggestions:
